Circle Circus meets Cracked Glass technique

Today's card showcases the Circle Circus stamp set which is part of the National Scrapbooking Special this month. Who doesn't love a way to get some free brads?!? I love this card and I will say that I will miss Bermuda Bay when it retires next month.  Speaking of retiring colors, make sure you've placed your orders for your favorite colors on the Fond Farewell list.  Some of them are starting to run out so make sure you figure out what you need and get your orders in now before they run out of your favorites!   If you haven't heard, Stampin' Up! is retiring 30 colors as part of the Color Renovation.  For more details, check out my blog post here.  

The technique featured on this card is the Cracked Glass technique.  To achieve the crackled look, first stamp your image(s) on neutral cardstock.  Then rub versamark over your entire piece of paper and heat emboss it with Glassy Glaze enamel.  Repeat versamark and Glassy Glaze embossing another 3 times.  Place this piece in the freezer for a few minutes.  Remove from freezer and bend paper so it will crack.  Repeat cracking in different directions until you achieve you desired look.

You're a Friend

Today I'd like to share a card I made using a cool new border technique I learned.  Here's the card:

 

The card itself is pretty easy to create.  I first ran my Rich Razzleberry cardstock through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  I attached a strip of Pale Plum to a piece of Whisper White, tied a piece of Rich Razzleberry ribbon around it and attached it to the card.  The greeting was inked in Rich Razzleberry and punched out using the Wide Oval punch.  The leaf image was stamped in Old Olive.  Both the leaf image and the greeting are from the stamp set Great Friend.  Now, notice the cool border around the greeting?  Wondering how to do it?  

Take a strip of paper 1" x 11" and punch along the edge using the Scallop Border punch.  Here, I used Cottage Wall DSP.  Then run that strip through your crimper. Place sticky strip on the back of your greeting along the edges.  Start by adhering part of your scalloped edge to the back of the greeting.  Using your fingers, work your way around the greeting, overlapping your scallop edge as you continue around.  Make sure you keep checking the front of your greeting to make sure your new border looks the way you want it to.  When you are done going around the greeting, place a small piece of sticky strip where you will adhere the end.  You will have to trim a little off the end as well.  Viola!  A new look for a scalloped border.  And one that can be customized for any size.  TIP:  Try this with the Sale-A-Bration Scallop Trim Border.

Party Hearty Sweet Always scrapbook page

Here's a project I made awhile ago with my scrapbook club.  It's one of my favorites so I just had to share.  Plus, it's from my youngest daughter's first birthday.  Since she'll be two in less than two weeks, I figure I'd better share now! 

The designer paper, sweet always, is retired, but I just just love the color combination!  Each vertical panel is stamped with a different image from the Party Hearty stamp set. All of the elements are raised with dimensionals.  Here's a close up of each page, along with some details on the page.

Are you wondering how I got the pink edge on my title?  You may bot be able to tell in this photo, but I layered two top notes.  I cut them out (at the same time!) with my Big Shot.  I then used my paper snips to trim the perforated edge off the Regal Rose top note.  Something else to mention is the party hat image was colored in with markers to get the multi-colored result.

This page has some fun stuff going on....   The center of the Celebrate You image was created using a Build-a-brad.  I just love playing around with those!  And did you notice the glittered cupcake frosting?  That's one of my favorite parts of this page.  That was created using heat and stick powder, with fine glitter.  Don't know what heat and stick powder is?  Or don't know how to use it?  Here's a mini tutorial for you:

1.  Stamp your image in Versamark.

2. Apply heat and stick powder to stamped image.  Shake off excess.

3. Use heat tool to melt heat and stick powder.  It will turn smooth and sticky.

4. Apply glitter to image.  Shake off excess.

5. Use heat tool for just a couple seconds to set the glitter.

6. Finish your project!

That's it.... super simple and creates such a wow!  You can't get that same result using a two-way glue pen with glitter.
