Thursday Tool Tip - Craft and Paper Scissors

Today I'm bringing back an old feature called Thursday Tool Tip.  This is where I share a tip about a product I could not live without in my stampin' studio.  Today I'm going to tell you a little more about the Craft and Paper Scissors, aka "My Ribbon Scissors"

After you use these scissors just once, you'll be hooked!  These high quality, heavy duty scissors cut ribbon and card stock easily and beautifully, giving you a clean cut every time.  They have stainless steel blades, 3-3/4" blade length and they are ergonimically designed to fit your (right) hand.

I love these scissors because they cut through ribbon like butter.  You don't have to mess around with holding the ribbon just the right way to make the cut.  If you only have a small piece of ribbon to trim up, they will still work.  I only use mine for ribbon and I refer to them as "My Ribbon Scissors".

Thursday Tool Tip - Stampin' Dimensionals

For today's Thursday Tool Tip I want to tell you just how much I LOVE using my Stampin' Dimensionals....

I don't think anyone's crafting can be complete without using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I just love how easy it is to make images pop-out simply but putting a Stampin' Dimensional on the back.  I also love how you can layer them for even more depth in your project.  I especially love placing my punched out greetings on Stampin' Dimensionals, just to make them pop just a little more.  Here's an example of how Stampin' Dimensionals can improve the overall appearance of your project.  Click on the photo for a larger view and supply list.  Notice how the flowers that are placed on Stampin' Dimensionals really pop out at you and add more interest to the card?

 

Did you know that sometimes Stampin' Dimensionals can be a little stubborn, and they don't want to cooperate?  When that happens, simply press your fingernail on it so that you make a dent in it.  That makes the paper easier to remove from the back.

Thursday Tool Tip - What's a bone folder do?

I've decided I'm going to implement some new features here at Stacey's Stampin' Space in an effort to provide you with more creative inspiration!  Today I'm going to start with Thursday Tool Tip!  Every Thursday, I will spotlight a tool that you probably already have lying around at home.  I'll share with you the features and benefits of the tool, and try to tell you other ways to use the tool.  Today I'm going to start with something I can't live without.... my bone folder. 

I reach for my bone folder every time I go to make a card because it makes a nice clean and crisp fold.  Some people say they can use their finger/fingernail but I just don't think that works as well.  I also love how you can use it to distress the edges of a card, scrapbook page or even to distress an embellishment. 

Did you also know that you can use the pointed end of the bone folder to score your paper?  Just run the tip along the edge of a ruler or other hard raised surface. If you have a paper cutter that has an optional scoring blade that you haven't quite gotten around to purchasing yet, you can use your bone folder instead.  Simply remove the cutting blade (or move it out of the way) and run the tip of the bone folder along the grooved area of the paper cutter.
